How much better is xp from windows 2000 pro Just wondering how much better is xp from windows 2000 professinal? I am still running 2000 and been thinking about upgrading soon. |
I am using XP Pro, but never tried 2000. I really like XP, I wish I had some advice on 2000 for you. |

Sounds like a plan. Good Luck! |
Basically , windows 2000 is a networking windows but whatever people use it as it is stable , I really suggest you to upgrade to WinXP Pro or home edition |
Depends. I you need a multi-user operating system, I'd suggest you stick with 2000. Windows XP manages users horribly, causing every kind of different problems. |
I would suggest XP if you are looking for the latest. But 2000 is more safer, and has quite less problems. XP is better if you have software that requires it. |
I think you should upgrade now.Windows XP is the best OS right now. Before I hate XP.But after MS have fixed the bugs of the OS,I've finally decided to change my OS. |
I think with the release of Vista, XP is going to be the second best. |
My opinion, well i'm sure it matters little, i'm not going to tell you what i think, but yes XP Pro is probably a good fit. It networks easily, has all the features of the windows line, and allows for FAT32 and NTFS file partitions (including FAT32 on the install drive) I have been running XP Pro for about 3 years and i love it. If you like the feel and display of 2000, you can enable the classic style in XP Pro and set up links etc (i have a list as long as my arm of registry hacks for XP logon and display features) the same as in 2000. I have had the -well i'm gonna say pleasure- but i don't know if it was, of using windows 2000. The switch to XP may be hard at first, but once you switch you'll probably NEVER go back, i know when i tried, it just felt... wrong... Also with the release of Vista (by the way, love the info card idea MS is really gaining my respect back) the cost of XP should drop considerably, similar to the drop win98/ME had after XP (but don't get me started on ME) plain and simple: XP is the renewed face lift to Windows 2000/98 that Internet Explorer 7.0Beta was for the old IE. If you've seen the improvements, they aren't hard to learn and it takes a short while to like them and NEVER go back. |
Today in school i had a look at the heaps of features Vista offers, and i was so happy that it was released, and so i can't wait for me to get a hold of it, and install it.:) |
Xp is a wonderfull OS whoever has its hand on XP will not like aNYOTHER VERSION visually there are some conttraints that keeps the programmers little doubtfull about XP there are some compatibility, networking and some other problems which arise now and then with XP , let's see what MS Vista (microsoft's new launch)gonna do for us |
Vista is amazing visually, i'm not sure i like all the changes, but it's probably just my getting used to XP, lol. I find some of the changes a GREAT improvment, some of the menu styles i find resemble that of knoppix, and the new IE7 release is definatly a lot better (a FF ripoff, but who says that's a bad thing?) At first i liked being warned about all the dll and exe files running on my system.. then it got to be rather annoying.. so i made sure that never saw the light of day again. Overall XP was a great improvment to 2000/98, i'm hoping that Vista will impress me even more as a i use it. *Kinda sad that the startup music is the same... |
if you are planning to upgrade i wouyld go straight to vista just like anything in computers if you wait abit a better version will get out and you wont have wasted your money on something thats second best |
i heard xp is the best...well, that was before the birth of vista... |
XP Pro vs. Win2000 I have been a A+ Tech for some years now, I have used both, and I have troubleshooted both for clients in the past. I use WinXP Pro SP2. It has alot more features than Win2000. Win2000 is and was used almost strictly for WorkGroups ( or at least that is what MS intentions for it.) and XP Pro's intentions from MS was for Small Businesses. Side by Side I would say both have their ups and downs, most will be the users preferences of the OS. Go ahead and upgrade, it is worth it, and XP is a pretty good OS, aside of all the problems you hear people having with it. "As far as the comment in someone's previous post that Vista will replace XP as the leader", we will have to wait and see. I am not one to jump on a OS as soon as it becomes available, I grab and use it when I AM READY TOO. Good Luck Either Way, Devildog |
