Word 2003 'not responding'

Office Word 2003

Office word 2003 was working alright till two days back.

Now it shows '(Not responding)' and refuses to function.

The only redemption is that it's closing button functions.

I went over to microsoft support and went through the maze
of questions there and could locate the prescribed solution.

Would any knowledgeable person kindly help me with a solution.
Please bear in mind that i am an ordianry average person with no technical knowledge.

Start by going to MS office update and make sure you have the latest updates.
