Wireless Cards
 

I want to purchase a laptop and need it have a wireless card but found after checking with several different ones,ATT,Verizon,etc. I found coverage is not available in my area. I have US cellular that works fine in my home. I have dial-up on my desktop PC and kids,so I would like to be on the wireless while they are on the dial up. Do I have any options?:confused:

while this set up is best used with a dual phone (digital/analog) it will work on either of them as well as your regular landline phone also. Use it anywhere your cellular phone company works.

Does your regular home phone company have DSL in your area? You would need to check with them to make sure! If they do then your best way would be to get a DSL modem that gives you high speed access through your phone company lines. Then add the wireless router to the set up and you can connect that way,

I do not recommend the use of a combo router/modem supplied by your phone service as these are extremely proprietary and set so low that you can barely get wireless through a single wall. Just ask for a DSL modem and purchase the wireless router on your own.

Note>>>>> all new laptops come stock with built in wireless NIC cards to connect to a wireless signal from a router so there should be no need to buy another one.

He / She will have to find out if dsl is available in the area they live in.

If you have dsl available a NetComm NB9W is a good choice, this is what I use. It's easy to set up, it has four ethernet ports as well. Plus the VoiP, which is the reason I got this for. It has plenty of wireless grunt as well...
