In MS Windows XP, the My Documents folder found on the desktop is not just a folder. Here, you will find a wide variety of shortcuts to the options found on the Start Menu when you right-click Send To menu as well as shortcuts to various locations in MS Windows.
The My Documents folder stores two crucial multimedia folders - My Music and My Pictures. This folder allows you to browse through the files saved on your hard disk. With this set of features, MS Windows XP is a real aid in going through all your files through Start -> My Documents.
But for people who frequently use the files stored inside the aforementioned folders, creating a shortcut to the My Documents folder on the Quick Launch Bar will allow them to access it by a single click. Here are the steps to do this:
1. Initiate Start Menu then right-click-and-drag the My Documents icon straight to the Quick Launch bar.
2. When you did not find the icon to the Quick Launch bar, unlock the bar. After doing so, right-click again on an unoccupied area of the taskbar. When you see a checkmark next to the option to lock the taskbar, check the ticbox in order to choose this option. Now it’s not sealed, but you need to bring it back in the way it’s been after dragging the horizontal divider. Afterwards, you can see your new icon.
