Windows Xp default firewall keeps disabling itself
 

Every few hours my computer will notify me that my firewall has been turned off and everytime I enable it again it turns off after a few hours. Any help im remedying this problem would be great.

Are you using any other firewall like (norton or zonealarm) with your default Xp firewall. Usually norton or zonealarm try to shutdown the default firewall.

If I were you I wouldn't use the XP firewall at all, as it is quite resource heavy and blocks alot of genuine site connections. Get a copy of Sygate Personal Firewall or a free one from Download.com

Sygate is a great firewall, i used to use zone alarm, but i've had issues with it re-directing some sign ins and if the site only allows you to sign in from there site.... it doesn't work, I don't know what they changed in there code, but they certainly didn't take that into account.
As for the windows firewall it isn't all that usefull, yes it is a firewall, and you 'can' use it, but it isn't recomended as there are many other better free one's available (I believe there is even a poll on this)
