Default Windows Vista Home Premium Upgrade

Hello,

I have a Refurbished Dell Dimension E521 Desktop with a AMD Sempron Motherboard and Windows XP Media Center Edition

I am trying to upgrade it to Windows Vista Home Premium, with the upgrade version of Windows Vista Home Premium, but it will only let me do a fresh install.

How do i get it to let me do an upgrade

how far does set up go before you realise that it is doing only a fresh install?

Is your XP version up to date with updates and patches? And it is Vista 32bit?
It looks like you may have to have SP2 installed to do and in place upgrade.

P.S a fresh install is always best anyway, a little more work now but a better running machine down the road.
