Windows Media or RealOne
 

Windows Media Player as everyone knows, comes packaged within Microsoft Windows, and is able to play almost all the music formats except .RAM, which is a copyright format by RealOne.

RealOne, I hope atleast ppl have heard of it!!
Its a comparatively better music player IMO, small, compact, easily upgradeable, + the file sizes are about 20% of the formats in WM.
A Normal mp3 file is 5 MB in WM, but in .ram format, the size comes down to about 1MB, with no loss in quality!
And moreover, RealOne can play all formats, including mp3s.

If uve as yet not tried it, I say, atleast try it once. :)

Any Real player sucks...bloated, slow rubbish
There are thousands of better, faster, sleeker players out there...free
So what if Real compress music so that a 5Mb file is now 1Mb...with todays storage options its not exactly a major problem is it?

I don't think RealPlayer has ever not been bloated. I used the very first edition of it, and even back then it was bloated compared to the alternatives.

I actually use WinAmp for a lot of video viewing myself. Has been set up that way for a while, and I have no problems with it. I use it to watch movies, tv shows and other long videos, and have never had any problems with it. I have a lot of different codecs installed, so I can pretty much watch whatever I want.

I cringe any time I see a real icon or an installation pop up or anything related to real player. I have passed up paying for some content because you had to use real player to view it.

I personally like Windows Media because Real players have lots of ads and take up more resources. I like DivX for video because it doesnt have all the extra garbage, just the video.

I think that Windows Media, is the best out of those two.

well...i only use windows media player so there's no point of comparison...so far, it works fine for me...

I didn't even know anyone still used real player, most of their files can be played in quick time or VLC just fine and without the annoying pop-ups or adds. Plus media player is free with windows, to get the equivalent from real there is a fee, and i am not a fan of paying for something that can be equalled for free :)

I would definately say that WM10 is way better than most free media players.

if u are comparing media player and real one then i will prefer going with real one player. sometimes my media player stops playing movies but realon player can play them easily. for mp3s i would say that winamp is the best and very simple to use
