I need to know because I'm seriously thinking about installing one on my computer. The only problem is I don't know where to start. There seems to be different companies for the actualy burner and the program that burns the DVD. I hope this makes sense.

If u are looking for the BEST, then plextor it is.... for something good sturdy i wud say BenQ 1640DW is pretty good. or you can even look at sony DRU series..
As far as the program goes , I've always used Nero all my life and dont plan to change

Thanks. Those seem like interesting companies and I plan to check them out. Do you know how much the program costs, because, of course, that plays a large part in which one I select.
