One cannot access virtual desktops on Windows 7 by default. But many users are obsessed to use multiple desktops because they reduce the complexity of the work. It helps in removing clutter from your main desktop and allows to move opened tasks and programs to different desktops. Some might choose Linux just for a reason that it provides multiply virtual desktops.
VirtuaWin is an amazing free application which allows you to access multiple desktops on Windows 7. The new version, VirtuaWin 4.1 Beta 2 is introduced specially for the Windows 7 users. This version of Windows 7 have been successfully tested on Windows 7 RC and Windows 7 RTM.
You can create upto 4 different unique virtual desktops and name them individually. And this is the first step of the process. Once you are done with it, click on the NEXT button.
You might find this program a bit difficult to use (if you try to configure its default options). So you better use it with the default settings as for the time, this is best and the only program which enables you to use multiple virtual desktops on your computer powered by Windows 7.
One by one you need to create four unique desktops by giving them unique names and clicking the next button, you can only create 4 virtual desktops with this tool. Overall this program is quite difficult to understand and messy when it comes to initial configuration when it comes to using it. But right this is the only program which supports windows 7 and can provide the virtual desktops functionality in windows 7.
Note: It uses windows key by default on your keyboard as the hotkey to change the desktop, so you will need to change it if you don’t want it to configure this way.
