Unknown Icon Downloaded hello there, I have an unknown icon that was downloaded when I rebooted my computer. (I did not knowingly download anything) When I rebooted the computer message said to wait while it updated my configuration files. Now this icon is on my bottom tool bar. It is an eight sided metal looking icon with a wavy line through the middle. can you please tell what is this.? thanks. Bmora96 |
right click the icon and see what it says who it is from or what it represents! |
Hello there, Well I think it's a kind of spyware. Spy wares, are the programs that stay resident in the memory and their main aim is to find a pattern in the memory which shows a kind of attack may happen to your computer from hackers or worms and Trojans. Regards, Cranium1200 |
If cranium1200 is right i recommend using the free version of Lavasoft Ad-Aware, or Spybot S&D to remove it and any other bugs that may be hanging around. :) |
Once you find out what the eight sided icon is, as Lurkswithin suggested, use Autoruns to stop the process. To do this open Autoruns go to the Logon tab and scroll down to the process you want to kill. Then untick the box alongside it's name. AutoRuns for Windows Edit: Please reply back with the name of the eight sided icon programmes name, and we can help you further if it's malware... |
