SysChat - Unistall Office Word from Windows

I do not generally use Office Word and Outlook.
They occupy some 200 mb of space.
If i uninstall them, as office word appears in 'Add/Remove',
would it improve the performance of my Laptop.
I am asking this question because when i asked ways and means to
speed up my laptop, I was advised to tweak the registry, by deleting an item in
HotKey section, and am not confident to do that as my expertise in computer
operation or manupulation is almost nil.
So, instead of getting into 'Registry' am only entering 'Add/Remove'
program which is quite often as i try out different programs and being
rid of them sooner than later.
And Note Pad is good enough for my postings in my blog site.

Therefore, please tell me if uninstalling Office Word would enhance 'free space'
and improve performance of computer.
