Trouble with Descent FreeSpace

I loaded a game called Descent FreeSpace onto my new PC with Windows Vista. When I try to play, it tells me I do not have enough RAM. It is saying I have -1155 MB of RAM but I have plenty available. What can I do to correct?

That game was originally played on windows 95. under a DOS platform....there is going to be all kinds of issues in trying to play it in Windows Vista...even in the compatability mode. You wish to play this game then I suggest that you set up a virtual machine and install Windows 95.

I recommend that these games be left for the older operating systems and leave the newer games to the newer computers.
