systemcrash I have a laptop A15 Toshiba> the modem doesn't function. I do not have the restore disk or the XP disk. Is there any way to turn the modem on without these? |
what do you mean by does not function? does it appear under your hardware profile (right-click my computer, select properties, hardware tab, device manager) If it is there, you are probably missing a driver or required software for the particular modem. If it isn't there, try the action\detect hardware changes option, if that comes up empty, there may be something wrong with the modem. |
Do you know the model number or brand or anything about the modem? You can usually download drivers and get troubleshooting help right on the manufacturer's website. Definately check the device manager, and try doing the add new hardware wizard if it's not there. |
If the modem was your only means to connect the laptop to the outside world then you might be in a bit of bind. Might have to download device drivers on another computer and transfer them using floppy-net or CD-net. :) |
