I have a sony vaio pcg vx88 and I do not have the docking port and i am trying to install a operating system on my hard drive, I do not have a floppy or cd rom, I also have a dell inspiron which i tried to load the ops on first and put it in the sony afterwards but I get the blue screen, any ideas on how to get the op system on the sony, or possible get an external cd rom to work with it. Thanks in advanced for any help.

Install without drives

unless your mobo supports booting from usb you cannot install an OS from an external drive.

ty i will try this any idea how to boot from another computer using ethernet cables or usb

again, if your computer does not support usb boot, and it probably doesn't if it doesn't even have drives. That is not possible.

is it possible to download the operating system on the hard drive using a different laptop and then install the hard drive in the vaio

to download no, but i think i know what you mean.
If the drive fits into another laptop with a cd drive, then simply start the installation, and when the computer reboots the first time, do no let it restart, and put the drive back into the proper laptop. It will then startup and begin the OS installation.
