scripting issues on xp I recently had an issue with a couple of trojans. While disposing of them I must have disposed of something i need. Now I get errors on some pages online. At Commandondemand.com when trying to use the online scanner i get: Line 17 Character 5 Error Object does not support this property or method Code 0 i get different messages at different sites. Pc tuneup tells me I'm missing wnaspi32.dll and prounstal.exe. Help? |
Trojans are famous for corrupting or deleting windows files, check your XP cd for these files and simply put them backm if they happened to be packaged inside a .cab file.. which they probably will be... you could try a repair by restarting your computer with the XP disc in the drive and choosing repair instead of install. |
scripting issues i tried reinstalling windows over itself hoping it would correct the problem. it didnt. will the repair function work if the reinstall didnt? |
Yes "repair" should definitely work. And This message Quote:

scriptin issues on xp i went to the microsoft site and did everything they said except reinstall the Script 5.6. My DirectX was bad and I reinstalled it. this leaves only the script issue from their list. article is here http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=308260 |
not script problem ok. i just downloaded script 5.6 and ran. I also did a reinstall of Explorer 6. Nothing has changed. I have nothing blocked in activeX that could block it from running. now what? Thank you |
The problem is with the webpage which you are trying to access (http://www.commandondemand.com/eval/cod/codie.htm). There is nothing wrong with your computer or IE. |
ActiveX Issue I believe it's an ActiveX issue because when I go to the site on my son's PC, the toolbar asks permission to run ActiveX. When I allow it works fine. Ive tried a reinstall of XP over the top of mine. I've tried the Run:scan repair line. I've tried reinstalling Java, DirectX, VBScript 5.6, and several suggested Registry mods. Can anyone out there help? Thank you |
Try resetting Internet Explorer web settings In Internet Explorer -> Tools -> Reset Web Settings. If it does not work try repairing your Internet Explorer through Add/Remove programs. Is that the only site you are having problems with? |
Scriptin /ActiveX issues Its the one I keep using to see if its fixed yet. There were some others with different messages like something was expected or such. I dont see an option to reset web settings under internet options-tools. also, IE is not in the add/remove programs. |
IE is not in the add/remove programs list because it is an intergral part of Windows. To remove it you have to go to Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs>Add/Remove Windows Components (On the left of the window) and remove it from there. To reset your security level on IE go to Tools>Internet Options>Security then select Custom Level and at the bottom of the window is a drop down which says "reset to level:". Just select the level you want to reset your browser security to (medium would be recommended.) Have you tried another browser? If not I would recommend trying Firefox. Just click my signature below to be taken to the Firefox website. |
activeX issue If I remove the IE in Components, how do i get it back? |
Just tick the check box again to install IE in the same window you used to remove it (you may need the original Windows CD for this, but I wouldn't have thought so) Have you reset the security settings and tried another browser? |
