sata drive My sata hard drive only runs at udma5. I found it at "IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers" in the Device Manager. The motherboard has ata100 IDE interface. Why? Thanks WinXP, 80gb sata |

It's an 865GV-M3 v5 ECS motherboard. As I know sata drive will run at 150 not ata100. It's only my opinion. But why? Thanks |
Udma Hello, udma5 is ATA100, your right in saying your SATA is running at 150 (or 300, you may have a jumper on the drive). Would you like a full explanation of why your drive is 150 or 300? Check your Disk drives in the Device Manager, it's probably listed as SCSI. ATA is 'Advanced Technology Attachment', SATA is a serial connection and is the successor to ATA, they run differently. Regards Martin |
hi, No SCSI, it's a plain ST380811AS in the Device Manager and jumper is set at 150. I would like to know if this is normal or there is a remedy to run it in its full speed. Thanks |
