Problem resolved Well, I did end up getting rid of XP on my dual-boot system. My word of advice is to never install an OS in an extended partition. I ended up on the phone with Microsoft for several hours. It would have been easier if I didn't have an Upgrade disk for Vista Ultimate. Because of this and the extended partition that Vista was installed to, I ended up wiping out my whole hard drive; reinstalling Windows XP; Upgrading it to Vista Ultimate 64. As part of this I repartitioned my hard drive. Also, I ended up using the file backup I had made in Vista, but had to install my programs. I found that the file backup restore in Vista has a bug where you can restore files, as long as you don't check that box to restore all files. You have to pick and choose which ones....then it works. Thanks for everyone's help.
