Override Access Denied and Sharing Violation annoying messages

By Sami

Cannot delete file: Access is denied
There has been a sharing violation.
The source or destination file may be in use.
The file is in use by another program or user.
Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.

These are the messages often pops up in Windows when you're trying to delte a file that doesn't want to be killed.

Unlocker, a free utility adds a right-click option that lists running processes and allows you to pick items to unlock for access or deletion

Wow, I never knew about this utility, I definitely need to get this right away.
But sometimes I've noticed that just restarting your computer can let you delete the file without any problems (just after restarting for some files), and that's what I've been doing so far...

Default Unlocker & windows 95?

I support a number of older PCs running windows 95. Occasionally I get sharing violation messages on data files because of user errors, and the only way to clear this error and begin using the data again is restart the PC. Usually, the offending PC will not gracefully shut down and then restart: it usually has to be manually shut off, then turned on.

Unfortunately, many times I am accessing these PCs remotely (via PCAnywhere), and obviously can't shut the PC down.

I was hoping that unlocker would do the trick. However, it won't install on these machines because (I suppose) the version of SHLWAPI.DLL found on these machines is too old.

Any help would be appreciated!

Unlocker is a waste of time! Does NOT work on most "Access is denied" folders unless you are only wanting to delete and even then it often requires more action by the user than the program itself. Take my advice, find something better.

Default W2K and W2K3 Sharing Violation

Good Day,

I tried to delete a newly created excel file but failed, and it says:

"Cannot delete <filename>: There has been a sharing violation.
The source or destination file may be in use."

This is a file server, I could not reboot it all the time to resolve this issue.
I have tried to use unlocker, but that does not seem to work.

Does anyone face this problem and know how to resolve this?

thanks,
stel

Default Adware Installed with Unlocker 1.8.7

Before recommending or installing Unlocker 1.87, it would probably be a good idea to do further research.

Beware Unlocker 1.8.7

ThreatExpert Report

My firewall prevented the unreported (secret or hidden?) installation of ebayshortcuts, an executable file. It has been reported that the program tries to connect to AD ON Media - Online-Werbeagentur and download additional files.

Even using Revo Uninstaller (a freeware utility that does a good job of removing entries from the registry and deleting files and folders sometimes left behind), the program is installed in such a way that some of the files could not be deleted. In my case I got an "Access Denied" error message. It took booting into Safe Mode and using DOS commands to delete the files and directory.

Install at your own risk! (Thank you, Online Armor!!!)
