Every time I click on a link in an email message either nothing happens or an explorer window C:\documents and settings\etc,etc opens.

Pleasae could somebody help me repair this and explain to me why it happens? Why does OE suddenly for no reason start behaving like this?

This problem usually occurs if your default browser has changed from Internet Explorer to any other browser. Or your Internet Explorer is corrupted and needs repair.

Follow these steps to solve this problem.

1. Open Internet Explorer -> Tools -> Internet Options -> Programs Tab
2. Click on Reset Web Settings -> Ok
3. Click on Advanced tab
4. Click Restore Defaults.

I would suggest doing wat Sami has said, and also maybe it could be software problems as well, so i would suggest that you reinstall OE, and then try it or even repair it.

I had this problem initially after switching my browser to FF, but on most links can be copied by right click and pasted into your choice of browser. Or you are forced to have IE be set as your default... sorry, outlook and IE share there internet connection.

If I were you I woul bin IE and OE all together and use Firefox and Thunderbird for browsing and email respectively. These two programs are free and so much better, more stable and more reliable than anything Microsoft has. Or you can get the Mozilla suite (basiclly the same as getting FF and TB but all in one and a few add-ons to make them work together faster) You can get any of these things here

I would have to go with Firefox here, get rid of Outlook (and of course IE) because many of the settings they both use are the same. For example if you change the print margins for somethig in IE then it will change for Outlook as well (don't ask me why... may be the developers just thought it was cool this way?) so you need to keep changing the settings. And not only that since they are some what connected you can get other problems (like William said, it will open anything only in IE).

So if possible why not give Thunderbird a try... it's newer and chances are that you are going to like it...
