trouble Opening Jpegs

For no reason that I can think of I cannot open jpegs in Windows Explorer. I can only think that the file responsible for opening them has been deleted with something else. File association does not seem to make any difference. Is there something I can download to fix this?

Default Improper file associations

This could be due to improper file associations.

You can try changing your file associations to Microsoft Windows Default

Start-> Settings-> Control Panel-> Add or Remove Programs -> Set Program Access and Defaults -> select Microsoft Windows

Pc Blue Cannot open Jpegs in Windows Explorer

Thank you for your response, but I only have Windows 98 and "Set Program Access & Defaults" is not offered as an option on the Add/Remove Program screen.

If you have any other ideas I could try I would appreciate it.

With many thanks.

Do you get errors when you right click a jpeg file then selecting to open in IE? Do you get the same error when you try to open jpeg files in IE via the browser feature File > Open?

If this is the case, you can check for viruses or your event viewer for errors.

Just download free app such IrfanView and FastStone Image Viewer 3 because they're way better than Microsoft's own image management software.
