I was wondering, does anyone have a sound card or do most people just use the onboard sound? I have installed a few sound cards and havent really noticed a diffrence, has anyone experienced the same or do you notice a diffrent?

I used to use just the onboard, but then I put some sound cards in. I don't know why I did that, I never really cared about sound. When I had the onboard sound, I hardly ever even turned on the sound. I'm an image kind of guy, all I need to do is see. The only time I turn the sound on is when I'm playing a game, although most of the time I don't even turn the sound on when I'm doing that. I have to admit, the sound is better with the sound card.

I have an Audigy. I use to think that modern Onboard sound was pretty good, until I bought a nice card. It makes a huge difference.

I have used both Onboard and a PCI external soundcard.

I didn't really notice a differene persay, but I'm not a music or sounds fan. I just had to use the external since I had no choice(I was left with a broken onboard sound), it was a really old one but it worked well.

Unless you are an audiophile or have relatively decent speakers, you will not notice a huge difference. Sure, if you go out and get a Creative X-Fidelity soundcard and an elaborate setup you can hear the night and day difference between using onboard sound and 2.1 speakers. But for most people, the price to get that added satisfaction is too high for the improvement.

I have an on-board (built-in sound card). I think there is no difference between OnBoard and regular sound cards. You must have better speakers for good results.

I have a Sound Card at the moment, but i prefer the inbuilt ones, cause i think they are better in quality.
