...Not Responding :mmph: I've got this Dell laptop I've had for several months now. The OS is VISTA. Why oh WHY! is every single thing I open from Word, to the Internet, freeze with the message "Not Responding" coming up. It eventually does respond in most cases but, come on! There's got to be something up that causes this to happen. I'm in an Instructional Technology class at University and my instructor just says, "Well, you're running VISTA." But this didn't always happen. Help me. Daugust :hippie: |
More than likely you have some fouled up DLL files. This can be caused by the uninstalling of certain types of software that attach themselves to other programs...like a parasite. You need to run clean up programs and clean all the crap out. then do a registry cleaner (Ccleaner) then run your anti-virus programs to make sure you have nothing hiding. Defrag the computer and once that is done...... start > run and type sfc /scannow (notice the space before the slash mark) press enter and let the system file checker do its thing. If that doesn't do it then a removal and reinstallation of the program may be required. |

Sorry, But I am just not sure if it will work in VISTA or not... I really wish posters would state what operating system then are using first off so as to stop wasting my/our time. It is crittical that we are let known what OS is being discussed. |
To get the to the run command: Hit the Windows key (close to space) and R together. or To get the option back on your start menu; right click on the taskbar, choose properties click the start menu tab, click customize button, scroll through until you see 'Run Command' and check the box, click Ok and it should show up on the start menu. |
Not Responding is a known issue The "not responding" msg is a known issue. Service Pack 1 helps fix the problem. |
