I have installed a new hard drive on laptop and have been trying to load xp home. When I turn it on it won't recognize the hard drive or the cd rom so I can't load the new operating system. I have tried to put a boot diskette in the A: drive and it still does not work. Any suggestions?

check the jumper on hdd is set at master then make sure all connections are seated properly and are the right way round on mobo and hdd
