I bought a rebuilt Dell Laptop with Windows 2000 professional on it. Didn't get the disc though. (should have but didn't pay the extra money for it). It was working great until grandson was on the thing over Christmas. Now when I try to boot I get the following message:

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\WINNT\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM

Anyway I can get this back without the windows 2000 setup disc?

This happen to me a while back. I did a search for windows 2000 boot disk.

I downloaded the four disk . They go into 4 floppy disk .I booted into the windows 200o setup screen . I then chose the repair option . It reparis it and I was able to startup.
