Printer Need "Heavy Workload" Printer Suggestions

I've purchased two HP Officejet Pro L7680's and both have died on me in about one months time. I've contacted HP and they've told me all they can suggest is that we purchase a refurbished unit from them. I've done a little research and honestly just can't find any printers that are advertised to handle "heavy" work-loads (several thousand sheets printed every few months).

I'm hoping somebody here has a printer they have experience with a printer that has been reliable and they have personally used or seen which prints thousands of documents every month or so without breaking down. Finding a printer that is compatible with a Continuous Ink Supply System or has cartridges that can be self-refilled would be a true blessing. Any feedback or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have had great progress with my HP officejet J6480. I may not quite reach 1000 sheets every month but come close to it and exceed that on most.

The ink I also have issues with. I refill the black cartridges and just buy the color refills. The black comes up as low ink but there is an over-ride option and the printer just keeps right on working.

This is my 3rd HP in 12 or so years and I am happy with them...Don't understand why you have such issues. Mine is set up as a wireless network printer and is accessible by 3 computers on my network.

have you thought about leasing a small business printer?

I recently became aware of that model and was considering buying it. After reading some reviews on newegg I wasn't convinced that my problems would be fixed as several people had printers that arrived non-functional. I'm currently considering just going with a laser printer but if I cannot find anything I feel confident buying I might see if I can pick up that HP model here in town so I can take it back if it doesn't work out of the box or if it dies early. I never even considered leasing a printer. I wasn't even aware that was something you could rent. I wonder how much something like that would cost.

A color printer lease will also include regular maintenance, and you get the ability to occasionally trade up to a new model. Avoid leases that lock you into a specific printer for more than a year or two: technology moves quickly, prices fall, and your printing needs may evolve, so the flexibility to change models is important.

I leased a xerox many years ago when they were too expensive to buy out right. It was done by volumn of printing needs and it worked out that I saved myself some money from out and out purchasing as it was all tax deductible and the price of the rental for the six months I had any of the leased printers (updated regularly) was far less than prurchasing and no ink costs or maintenence issues to have to worry over.

How much did you pay and what exactly did you lease? I don't need a model number for the unit but was it a color laser printer or small press publishing unit?

I don't remember the exact cost or the model other than it was just a plain 3 color printer/copier from xerox! The machine at that time was well over a $1000.00 to purchase and I was only paying some $25 or $30 per month. but i do remember that i was locked into a 6 month lease agreement.

Interesting. I'll definitely have to check into that. I wonder if they cover toner or drum replacements or things of that nature. Thank you very much for the info!
