however, a common suggestion that i have been reading is that if the data on the drive is very important, consider sending it back to the manufacturer for data recovery.
chances are, some controller chip on the hard drive may have already malfunctioned thus preventing a complete read and detection of the drive. theoretically, the usb flash drive manufacturer would have the compatible chips to try a replacement and data recovery.
