Default Laptop suddenly stops connecting to internet after system restore.

After doing a full system restore from the disks that came with the computer, my laptop suddenly cannot connect to my home wifi. However, this problem is exclusive to my home. Assuming I had the passkey, I am able to connect to neighbor's or stray signals. When I try to connect to stray wifi signals, it asks for the passkey. When I click on my own, it says "cannot connect" and doesn't ask for a password. I tried the windows diagnostic to and all normal troubleshooting tequnices to no avail. Any suggestions? The wireless works on other computers, and I'm currently using a wired connection with the laptop.

im guessing your using vista. if so there are millions of possible causes. try to system restore the system restore and see if it helps. by the way: if your router is a livebox (or something like it) you have to press buttons 1 and 2 before you can connect to it or see the router as an access point thats PC compatible.

Look at the computer manufacturers website and get and install the latest wireless network card drivers.

Wouldn't that affect all wireless connections? Not just mine?

No, not if it's a connection type or encryptions issue. The driver may have an update to deal with newer encryption types etc.
Are you using security on your wireless network. You can test it by turning off your wireless security (in the router config) and see if it connects then.

Also could be and issue if your computer is setup as for static IP. If the IP it's requesting is already in use on your network that can cause issues.

But if you haven't changed your settings, it's not likely the configuration default from a new install/factory restore.
