This means to me, a non-techy-scared-old-man, computer users have to :

1... Keep track of drivers for hardware devices, printer, scanner,
(both I do NOT have) mouse and whatelse;

2... It is a hassle to find the drivers;

3... It is also a hassle to keep track of those 'found' drivers.

Please tell me how important it is for me to :

a... Search and Find ''Drivers''
b... Keep Track of those Drivers

c... Is it mandatory of computer users to purchase ParetoLogic or similar program ?
d... What harm in ignoring this advise ?

Please help me have peace of mind from this proverbial sword hanging above me --- thank you.

Many months back i was a frequent visitor here asking for and received many useful answers --- the frequency of my visits dwindled as my knowledge of computer increased, with the help of answers from SysChat, many a time from you too!
The last time I visited I had a terrible time Logging In and there4 re-registered.
This may have led you to believe, rightly so, that am a new comer writing of a program.
Nevertheless, am curious to know what made you, a senior moderator, to assess my query as spam?
Is it the logical presentation that irked you sir?

You didn't seem to have any trouble logging into that name , now at this time. If you have something to say then use the name that you orriginally signed in with. ahhhhh! but you claim to be having issues signing in and you just recreated a new log-in and then posted this spam requesting people go look at this site. Sir, in any forum that is called spamming!

Had you just posted the question of whether or not there was any validity to using a driver support program of any kind without listing the name and a link and directing the readers to go there....well it would have been a different story!

SysChat resents my posting, as I have listed the name and url of the program I was referring to. I am sorry. I apologize. I was truly under the impression I should furnish the full detail for anyone to check on the veracity of the question. I am mistaken there, I believe, and I will take care.

PS: Ignorantly, being old and non-techy, used benza and benzaloy as user names. For my numerous sites. Long time since my last visit here and I messed up yesterday in logging in. That's the truth.

help me as I surely make my fair share of them.

There are various programs that are used to keep the drivers to your computer up to date. I personally do not use them at all. The reason being is that through years of installing software for the need to do this and to do that and all the bloat that comes with it I found that it is much easier to just go to the manufacturer's website and download the drivers as needed. They are perfectly safe there and are more prone to be first quality drivers than from Microsoft or other third party vendors as they have a tendency to update more slowly than what is recorded in the sales pitch.

Some are great and do as they say. Others not so much so. Then there is the constant transferring of data that is sent back and forth to these companies when they start searching for updates every time you boot your computer. They say that the only data collected is not personal identifiable but in truth that is their description and no one actually knows what it is that they collect as that is classified as proprietary information and can not be divulged.

In my opinion ...save your money as drivers need to be updated only if they somehow get corrupted by malware/viruses or just a plain computer glitch. What I recommend is that you do keep an updated file of your drivers that are installed on your computer. Only hardware drivers though. To do this :
1)create a file on your desktop and name it drivers for so and so computer
2)Now go to the manufacturer's website and under support > downloads or drivers > your model of computer.....there will be a list of all the drivers installed on that computer.
3)download the files to your driver folder....one at a time.
4)when completed burn the folder to cd and store it in a safe place....then move the desktop file to your documents folder.

As I stated these are hardware drivers and I do not store software drivers and see no need to even try....which most of the driver saver programs try to do!

For software applications and all that a person either has a CD with the software on it or they download it from the internet. If they download it from the internet then it will come in a self extracting set up file that you click on to start the installation. I just creat another folder called downloaded programs and store the install package in there. One main reason I do this is because from time to time there will be a great program or application that come out and the next version may have had (legal) changes such as DRM and other tracing applications or toolbars that are not needed or wanted forced to be installed as well. The older version will work just fine and can be reinstalled over and over!.

My two cents comes to this....the more stuff you install to monitor or search or change your system...the more problems you will be having as each vendor believes that it is their right to force auto start and auto call home and auto report....plus have certain types of adds and the likes....all of which is un-needed bloat
