Internet Explorer 7 (IE 7) now available to the general public Microsoft today has released Internet Explorer 7 (IE 7) to the general public, for use with the Windows XP operating system. IE 7 for Windows XP is available as a free download, and it also will be offered as a high-priority update via Microsoft's Automatic Updates service starting in November. Microsoft says: "In response to the increase in and changing nature of online security threats, Internet Explorer 7 provides advanced safeguards that help protect against malicious software and phishing attacks. In Internet Explorer 7, Microsoft has helped reduce the exposure to these attacks by fortifying the browser itself and providing better information to users to assist them in making better and safer decisions online." Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP runs on Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows XP 64-bit Edition and Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1. Internet Explorer 7 will be made available in other Windows-supported languages over the coming weeks. IE 7 is available for download at http://www.microsoft.com/ie. |
