Hi!
I am looking to buy a laptop from dell, but i'm not sure if FSB of the processor Intel pentium M745A is 533 mhz or 400.I had a looked at intel's website but saw only 745 without that A,which is 400mhz.Dell says 745a is 533mhz.Can anybody help me which is correct?
Many thanks in advance!

Usually what dell says is what you get, but the problem is that you can't be too sure. Even if they say M745A you might end up with a M745, so you never know, it doesn't happen, but it's impossible to predict.
But I think you should just call them up, its better... not necessarily buy it on the phone, but just call them up and ask them what FSB the computer has, and whether they are going to ship what they say.

Nope, there is no way of being sure as such, I've never heard of M745A yet, so I think it might have been manufactured separately for dell, and only dell laptops have them. The best way to find out is to call them. Perhaps if you could provide us with the model number and all that? Even so, you never know, just like Apple shipped those mac books with different processors then that were ordered.

If you don't get a 400Mhz FSB then you can always over clock (and yes I do believe it is possible to mod the processor on a dell inspiron laptop so that it has a 533Mhz)

Many thanks,Risherz.I appreciate your help.Yes, I will call them tomorrow for certain but I am just not sure if I can trust Dell and that's why I asked here.
According to this http://configure.euro.dell.com/dells...rsinspn_1300_1
FSB is 533.
According to this http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/pr...pp1&l=en&s=dhs
FSB is 400.
One more thing-here http://configure.euro.dell.com/dells...rsinspn_1300_1
the price is different from the first link, but everything is exactly the same.
Dell doesn't say anything about USB ports, battery life and so on.

Wow, nice catch, dell definately has a typo, it's 400 Mhz probably, because how can a 533 Mhz be also 1.8Ghz as well (the clock speed should differ) it should probably be more. Nice one, I think dell was trying to trick some people. It's a good thing that you decided to come to syschat, after what dell did to a lady (sold her a server to connect two computer, instead of a cable) I think I'm starting to worry a little bit as well...

The reason why the prices are different because the first two are under the employee purchase program that's all so the prices are lower (interesting to see that the prices aren't all that low...) so yes you are right the features are the same, the only thing that differs is that it's under the employee purchase program...

By the way if you are buying a dell don't forget to add coupon codes and all that stuff (I think you can do that, I don't know about the UK..) and all that stuff... wouldn't want to pay extra for something unnecessarily..

You can read more about the USB ports and so on over here and look under the tech specs area as well... and the battery should last about 2 hours on so (from general experience)..
