I was trying to restore my system to a previous date, but that doesnt seem to work

I tried to restore my system to a previous date, but it doesnt seem to be working. Moreover on starting the system, i get the error message. how to restore.

Is this the System Restore process built into the windows system?

Sometimes the system Restore program fails to work because it has been reset by specific software installations and or malware/spyware/virus infiltrations. You may only use this with a date set on the calendar within the program....which is usually a darker outline of the calendar date (bold outline)...if there is no bold date in the calendar then you cannot restore.

Some clean-up utillities will also reset this as well as by removing the stored data to make addirional room on a harddrive.

Why were you trying to do a system restore?
