I Need Help! to set my computer back to factory settings

One day i turned on my computer and it didnt start the bios screen loaded but then right before the windows xp logo starts the screen stays black. i tried safe mode but it doesnt work. i also tried the recovery cd but it freezes during the setup.
I want to set my computer back to factory settings can you help me please

I think that you might have a bad harddrive... When the BIOS loads but then nothing else...points to a bad harddrive.
