A Screen saver is a program that was once used to prevent phosphor burn in on CRT monitors, but as time passed by and as more efficient monitors became, the screen saver today is more a form of entertainment than prevention.
It is well known that people use screen savers in order to make their PC more appealing to them, as well as other users. If you want to instantly activate a screen saver and not to go through the whole Display Properties part, this is what you have to do:
Click the Start button on the taskbar, and then click Search. In the Search result window click on All files and folders, in order to search for a screen saver. Then, in All of part of the file name write: *.scr, which is an extension for a screen saver. In this way your computer will be searched for all the screen savers you have on the hard drive. Wait for a while until the search is finished, and then from the list of many screen savers, choose the one you like the most. You can preview them by double clicking on the screen saver files.
Now, in order to create a shortcut to the desktop, Right click on the screen saver file, Send To and then Desktop (create shortcut).
A shortcut of your favorite screen saver will be displayed on the desktop and you can instantly activate it by double clicking on the icon.
