If you are an advanced computer user, there is a big chance that you normally spend a lot of time in your Control Panel window to check on things, perform a little troubleshooting and to change settings as well. For older Windows versions, it would normally require you to do a lot of clicks first (4 or more) before you would get to what you need.
In Windows 7, you have the option to set up your operating system to provide you with direct access to specific Control Panel items straight from your Start menu. To do this, right click the Start button and select Properties from the options available.
Next, go to the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties dialog box and choose the Start Menu tab and then locate the button that says Customize.
Next, look for the subcategory named Control Panel on the screen and then select Display as a menu and you’re done. From this time on, whenever you click Control Panel in your Start menu, you will see a selection list that displays all the Control Panel items.
