Many times when we try to open any file a window comes up with the message “Windows cannot open this file” and we have to choose among the two options which say “Use the web service to find the correct program” or “Select a program from a list of installed programs”. Here we have to select any one option in order to make it work.
Sometimes it is very annoying to see this kind of message popping up all the time. To disable this there is a portable utility called Default Programs Editor. Using this utility you can change the system settings and enable and disable certain pop up messages. The following steps will give the detailed explanation of the process to disable the same.
Step 1: Download and launch the utility.
Step 2: Click on the settings icon (small icon) present at the bottom left of the pane.
Step 3: Now a window will open up click on “Disable Search web for unknown extension dialog box”
That’s all. Now when you try to open up your application it will prompt with the open with option where you can select one of the pre installed application from the list and open the application that you are trying. Download Default Programs Editor. |
