Many Windows users do not use Internet Explorer and some even want to uninstall it from their system. Despite the fact that Internet Explorer cannot be completely uninstalled from your computer, there is a way on how you can disable this browser on your Windows 7 system. Just follow the steps below:
Go to the Start Menu and navigate to the Control Panel. Once inside the Control Panel, locate Programs and Features and click on it.
Inside the Programs and Features window, select the “Turn Windows features on or off” option located on the left side of the window. You will now see the screen that contains all the Windows Features and you may now uncheck the box beside Internet Explorer 8.
As soon as you uncheck the box, you will receive a confirmation window saying that checking the box may affect other features. This can actually happen if you do not have another browser installed on the system. After verifying that you want to turn off IE8, click OK. After turning it off, you will need to restart your system.
As you restart the system, Internet Explorer will not be seen on the desktop as well as in the Set Default Programs section.
Disabling the browser does not fully remove all traces of IE8 because other Windows 7 programs and processes depend on its rendering engine.
