In the previous posts I have told you how to create “Show Desktop” icon in windows 7. Similar to show desktop icon switch between icons it is also not available in Windows 7.
With the enhancements to the Aero Desktop which was introduced in Windows vista the visual effects are much better in Windows 7. It comes up in 3D where we can see all the windows opened. But it is made a bit difficult to use it as we have to press the Windows button and press the tab button to switch between the windows.
It is difficult because we got used to use it from the taskbar as available in the previous versions of Windows. The following steps will help you to create the icon on your desktop.
Step 1: Right click on the desktop.
Step 2: Click on create shortcut.
Step 3: A window will pop up where it will ask for the location of the item. Type in the location as follows.
C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe DwmApi #105
Step 4: Notice that there is space between exe and DwmApi. Click on Next.
Step 5: Now enter the name of your shortcut as Switch Between Windows and click Finish.
Step 6: Right click on the Icon present on the desktop and click on Properties.
Step 7: On the shortcut tab, Click on the Change Icon tab.
Step 8: Click on the browse button and go to the following path.
C:\Windows\System32\imageres.dll
Step 9: Select the icon, which is present at the top right corner that looks like the windows screens.
Step 10: Click on OK.
You can anytime attach it to the taskbar drag it to the taskbar to attach. It is very simple to apply. Try it and enjoy the switching.
