Default How to change a bmp picture to jig or jpeg or whatever?

I have a picture with bmp extension. When i tried to post it in Live Journal it wanted me to post in jig or something other than bmp.

How can I change this bmp extension to something else?

Thank you, ben

Download and install IrfanView a very good graphics viewer and converter.

Open your bmp file usin Irfanview and Save As jpg or gif format.

you can open the file with any image editor, even paint wil work fine (and it is standard to windows).
choose save as, and in teh 2nd drop down list at the bottom select the type (jpg, gif, png, etc) I will warn you that paint may blur or destroy the colour if jpg is chosen, png is probably the best file choice, it is web compatable, and stores vibrant colours similar to a bmp with a much smaller files size.

I am fresher here ... please help me understand this site ... I like this site ... that's the reason for this entry.
I posted a question for explanation. There are four of five of them. Somebody replies and an email comes with a link in it.
I click on the link and come here and log in ... read the kind advise and as a matter of courtesy wish to post an entry.
But I am told, in four different ways, that I cannot post.
I scroll up and down and click on and on and for no rhyme or reason that I can notice I am suddenly allowed to post.
Let's have a clear understanding on the workings of this matter of posting as you would allow it is the basis of the whole activity here.
Please . . .

Ok I found out what's wrong. It is my mistake in NOT allowing time for the browser to load on.
But then why didn't someone alert me to that fact.
Oh, well, no one could have guessed my daftness.
Thanks anyway. I am really happy SysChat is working well for me.

That's nice of you. Thank you for the useful information. I had 'irfan view' and it made my pictues really beautiful to view. But not knowing what else to do with it, I uninstalled it.
My requirement was to collect common articles and pictures from newsletters and compile simplified, compact articles and post them in my blog site.
By the way, can you please tell me how to create a link in my blog site to another site. For example to SysChat, and from SysChat to my blog site.
That would be nice I think.
ben

If you have a photo manager or any graphic software in your computer, try to open the bmp file with this software and save it as JPG, GIF, PNG or any other file format you want. Most of them are able to do this, so I guess it won't be a problem.

Default To change extension 'bmp' of photo

Thank you. Yes, there is Picture manager. Shall try to open the photo in Picture Manager and try to do as you advised.
Thank you very much for taking time to help me.
