How to adjust UAC (User Account Control) settings in Windows 7?

Let us start by understanding what UAC settings are. User Account Control (UAC) notifies you before changes are made to your computer that require administrator-level permission. The default UAC setting notifies you when programs try to make changes to your computer, but you can change how often UAC notifies you.

In the previous version of windows there were only two types of settings but in Windows 7 there are many settings. The below steps will guide you how to change the same:

Step 1: Click on start and type UAC in search panel.

Step 2: Click on the USER ACCOUNT CONTROL SETTINGS.

Step 3: You will be able to see a slider there using which you can make the changes.

Step 4: Click on OK to make the changes effective.

The different types of settings are explained below:

Setting type 1: Always notify

You may select this setting when you always want to be notified when changes are made to the windows settings.

Setting type 2: Notify me only when programs try to make changes to my computer

You may select this setting when you want to be notified when the changes are made to your computer and not to be notified when changes are made to the windows settings.

Setting type 3: Notify me only when programs try to make changes to my computer (do not dim my desktop)

You may select this setting when the programs make changes to the computer without the desktop getting dimmed and not to be notified when changes are made to the windows settings.

Setting type 4: Never notify (Disable UAC)

You may select this setting when you do not want to be notified for any thing or in other words to disable UAC.
