I take it your laptop has a CD drive?
Insert the XP Pro CD and boot the laptop from the CD. Select format HDD and install new windows (it will tell you this is not recommended but ignore it).

The laptop will format and reboot using the CD and the XP Pro installer will run automatically. Let us know how you get on!

You should be able to go the the laptop manufacturers website and using the model number search for the drivers required. Either that or connect to the internet and using the device manager in Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager you can download the drivers needed.

In device manager, delete the hardware you are having problems with and reboot the computer. When it reboots it will say new hardware found and try and find the drivers. If it cannot find them in the database on the WinXP CD it will ask you if it can connect to the internet to locate the drivers. Just click yes Windows should do the rest.

Let us know how you get on

? partitioning and unpartitioning a drive is easy!!
there are many tools available, including the trial of partition magic. I partition and unpartition drives all the time

*what makes you think it's so difficult and costs $150?
