I'm having trouble following you.
You have 2 hard drives in one computer, both with XP installed?

And now it's taking an hour to boot to the original hard drive?

You could try and run some hard drive diagnostics.

Trying to follow S & M's lead...if two drives in same computer...old one moved to slave position ....could be a matter of incorect jumper sttings on the harddrive itself!
Western Digitals will sometimes act like this if the jumper is not set properly!
