Default help dual boot

I purchased a new notebook Sony vgn-fw270J with vista pre - installed.
My old notebook is an hp about 3 years old. with XP
I would like to have the sony dual boot so that
I don't have to reinstall all the programs and files.

I have made a full drive back up with ghost and installed it on a partition in the new notebook.

it will boot to vista with no problem. even gives me the dual boot selection. but when XP is selected it will not load...

Can anyone please help MEEEEEEEE>...
Thanks.

What does it say as to why it will not boot?

Sometimes when doing full partition / drive back-ups with a third party program the HAL is not copied. If this is the problem you will need an xp installation disc to reset the HAL.

Non of this would be a problem if you use a third party boot manager..

GAG is free and works well!

It tries to boot and goes to the meneu that let you select normal boot or safe mode.....
If i select normal boot or an other it tries and returns to that same screen.

When I select Vista from the list it works fine

thanks.....

AAArgggggg!!!!. I missed your first statement of how you got the xp!

You can't copy xp from one computer and install it on another. The check protocols will not allow it to boot because all the driver files are wrong and then the activation code is not set as well and this makes it an illegal copy of the operating system.

I can't help you in using an illegal copy of the operating system!
