Hard drive help..please! ok so I am not very computer savy so this might be a dumb question but here it goes anyway. I have a dell XPS M1330 laptop and about a week ago my computer stopped coming on..the system said "No rebootable devices" well I called the dell people and they said I needed a new hard drive which they sent me..and I was wondering if there is anyway I can transfer the memory for the old hard drive to the new one I just received?thanx in advance! |
" was wondering if there is anyway I can transfer the memory for the old hard drive to the new one " I am assuming you are refering to your data or applications and not the memory I would first check if your hard drive is still working maybe it's just a bad connection or your bios has changed If your hard drive still works but you just can't access it then you may have a chance to recover your files If it's not working at all there is not much you can do to recover the files |

If the hard drive is dead not functioning you will need to send it off to a specialist who can read the data from the platters. This is big dollars. If the hd is working but lost the boot sector you can perform a number of things to recover the data via software and even maybe repair the drive. |
