Default Easy way to backup files and settings

Usually we backup files and data in another partitioned drive. This is a basic way that we divide our hardisk drive (HDD) into two sections, drive C: and D:, drive C: for the system files and placing various programs and other document files, drive D: for storing backup files and other important files that can be saved when the system crashes. But you still have to backup your files by using a Windows XP tool. You have to use this, why? It is much easier and advantageous to restore our files and Windows settings from a Windows tool. It is also one of the safest ways to backup your files. On this tutorial you will learn how to backup your files the easiest way. So what are we waiting for? Let’s get it on!

To make the backup files and settings:
• Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > then Backup.
• In the “Backup or Restore Wizard” window, click “Next”.
• Select “Back up files and settings” and then click “Next”.
• This window will specify what you want to backup. Select “My documents and settings”. Click Next.
• Click browse… to choose the location to save your backup files and settings. The backup files will be in a .BKF file format.
• After we choose the media and location for the files, click “Next” and wait for the process until it is finished.
• Now you know how to backup your files.
Now you have backup your files and settings. Now restoring the files you have backup:
• Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > then Backup.
• In the “Backup or Restore Wizard” window, click “Next”.
• Select “Restore files and settings” and then click “Next” again.
• Choose the backup file which is in .BKF file format.
• Check the boxes beside the files or folders you want to restore and then click “Next” again.
• Wait for the restore process until it is finished.
• Then you’re done. You have restored your backup files and settings.
