Default DVD drive does not play

Our DVD drive keeps saying "insert disk" even when the disk is in. It won't play DVD (movies), it does play CD's. It used to work, not sure why it won't now. Have cleaned the optical lens, this didn't help. What do you think?
Thanks

Cool Dvd Drive Does Not Play

Hi,

I had the same problem. In attempting to fix the problem I returned the DVD-rom to the manufacturer, but that did not fix the problem. The unit they sent to replace the damaged one did not work either. The manufacturer said I was using the wrong DVD's. Well I was not using the recomended CD-RW and they worked fine. The next thing a friend came up with was the processor not being fast enough.

I don't know what your problem is but I do hope that somebody does. Perhaps they will come up with a solution to my problem.

lol, your processor speed will not affect the ability to read dvds!
you will have to check the compatability of your drive, ie the discs it can read +R, -R, RAM, etc.
Most drives should be able to read dvd movies, but it's possible.

what type of drive is it (company model type), there may be some special drivers needed to have it work. Also your OS type would help.
