No vista disk Hi, i have vista installed and i recently installed XP onto another partition to allow me to dual boot, what i didnt know was that it would stop me from booting vista. I never got a disk when i bought my computer and therefor have no way of fixing the problem. Is there anything i can do? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks |
1 Attachment(s) You probably did not read the tutorial. You should, considering the effort put into it by its author. It is quite normal that Vista become inaccessible after you've installed XP. You need to run a (free) program such as EasyBCD at this stage in order to reset the boot sector properly. I attached my procedure which describes how to finish off the installation (works without Vista DVD). Start at item # 10 of the procedure. |
I'm about to try a dual boot as I want to run an older Cannon Professional camera (EOS 1Ds Mk 1) which reqyires Firewwire and which does not offer drivers beyond XP. I've tried VitualBox, VMWare, Virtual PC, etc but they do not supprt external firewire connections evn though it is an open IEEE standard. My question is, given I have a C drive and a D drive partitioned on the disk, the D being where the OS recovery data is so I do not have a seperate Vista disk, it is all held there (it's a Dell Studio 1735 laptop), any hints or warnings before i start? |
Problem Installed XP to partition I made and now it says disc boot failure press ctrl alt del to restart |
