Ways to create virtual drives and using them on your computer might be as old as an Iron age but doing the same without any third party program is the new age functionality offered by Windows 7.
Windows 7 is undoubtedly the best Operating System offered by Microsoft so far.
Below are the steps for creating virtual hard drive in Windows 7:
Step 1: Launch the Computer Management screen by either typing “diskmgmt.msc” in the START search box or by right clicking on the MY COMPUTER icon and then clicking on the option labeled as MANAGE.
Step 2: Now click on “Disk Management” then on “Action” and then “Create VHD”.
Step 3: Now mention the directory where you want to virtual disk to reside.
Step 4: Now, it will label your disk as Unallocated Space. So simply right click on it and click on “Initialize Disk” and click on OK button.
Step 5: Once the processing is done, again right click on the unallocated space and click on the option labeled as “New Simple Volume”.
Step 6: Now, assign it some amount of size and name it with a drive letter.
Step 7: Now choose the type of format for the drive as “NTFS, FAT32, or FAT” and click on FINISH button.
That is all.
