if xp can only used 4 gb of ram, why do they make motherboards that support more? i know that xp64 can handle it, but as a os it really isn't very popular. is there any way for xp 32 to use more ram or is the extra ram used for vga?

thank you for your time

thank you for your reply lurkswithin. i guess i wasn't very clear. cpu operate at various speeds 2.4, 2.6, 2.9 ghz etc : at what point does the speed of the processor no longer have any real affect on system speed ( computer run faster) . assuming fsb of 1000 mhz 2gt/s

There is no set formula for determining this. That is why overclocking has strict warnings that doing it may cause your computer to quit working.

In most cases the computer will reach a state of instability before anything happens and you must return it to more stable settings....

If this is going to be something that you are going to experiment with...google for overclocking that specific chip and the best procedures for attempting....This is important because some chips are locked and cannot be overclocked....trying to will damage the chip severely
