CD/DVD driver corrupt

The above mentioned driver in Vista has been corrupted. What can be done to solve it?

In the Device Manager delete the corrupt driver, then restart your computer. Vista will re-install a new driver on booting up...

I hv already tried uninstalling the driver. When reinstalling is being attempted, search for device driver fails.

was able to solve the problem, there was trouble in the registry
