Did you know that Facebook has shortcut keys? These keyboard shortcuts may be utilized to navigate around the website without using the mouse. I have put together a short list of some of the shortcut keys below. Note: If you are using Mozilla Firefox, you’ll need to use Shift+Alt instead of just Alt for each of the shortcut keys. On the other hand, if you have Internet Explorer you’ll need to hit the Enter key after each shortcut to set it off. If you’re using a Mac OS X, you’ll need to use hit Ctrl+Opt instead of Alt.
Alt + ?: Search (Google Chrome and Internet Explorer)
Shift+Alt+? : Search (Firefox)
It’s one of the most functional shortcuts since the search box allows you to access all your friends easily.
Alt + M : New Message (Google Chrome)
Shift+Alt+M : New Message (Firefox)
Alt + 2: Your profile (Google Chrome and Internet Explorer)
Shift+Alt+2 : (Firefox)
Alt + 1: Home Page (Google Chrome and Internet Explorer)
Shift+Alt+1 : Home Page (Firefox)
Alt + 4 : Messages (Google Chrome and Internet Explorer)
Shift+Alt+4 : Messages (Firefox)
Alt + 3: Friend Requests (Google Chrome and Internet Explorer)
Shift+Alt+3: Friend Requests (Firefox)
Alt + 5: Notifications (Google Chrome and Internet Explorer)
Shift+Alt+5 : Notifications (Firefox)
There are more shortcut keys such as Alt+6 through 0 on the keyboard. These keys take you to the settings, privacy, about, terms, and help pages on Facebook.
